What is Automobile Engineering?

• Automobile Engineering is a branch of Engineering. Deals with designing, manufacturing and operating automobiles.
• It is a segment of vehicle engineering which deals with motorcycles, buses, trucks, etc. It includes mechanical, electrical, electronic, software and safety elements.
• An Automobile, auto car,motor car or car is a wheeled motor vehicle used for transportation, which carries its own engine or motor.

Classification of Automobiles:

Automobiles can be classified into several types based on several criteria. A brief classification of automobiles is listed below:

2. On the basis of Purpose
3. On the basis of Fuel Source
4. On the basis of transmission
5. On the basis of number of Wheels
6. On the basis of Side of Drive

Components of the Automobile:

• The Engine or Power Plant
• The Frame and Chassis
• The Transmission
• The Body, And
• Accessories 

What are the Requirements:

• Curiosity to learn about cars is the most important prerequisite to learn Automobile Engineering
• Basic understanding of the terms like force, pressure, velocity, acceleration etc, will be helpful, though not compulsory.
